(19) Highley Building

Built: 1906

Address: 503 and 501 North River Street

During the first fifteen years of the 1900's, stamp metal fronts became popular in South Dakota. The next two buildings are good examples of this facing material. They show two common design elements: simulated rock-facades and a flora and fauna decorated cornice. On the latter characteristic, these two buildings provide some of the state's best examples.
